Meet the 2010 UK Adventure Ambassador - Ben Dowman. After a two month intensive search, South African Tourism chose Ben, aged 35 from the Lake District, as their winner for the UK.

Ben travelled to South Africa in September 2010, to join 6 other winners from the US, Australia, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. The 'Adventure tribe' were accompanied by a National Geographic Channel television crew and a photographer shooting for a National Geographic exhibition in London. The crew followed Ben and the tribe on an action-packed itinerary through South Africa which included hot air balloning, mountain biking, safari, caving, horse riding, quad biking, bungee jumping, surfing and shark cage diving.

On returning from his trip Ben said "South Africa for me is a country of contrasting adventures. Exciting adventures in the mountains, on the beaches and in the sea. Inspiring adventures with majestic animals. Adrenaline adventures in the air. With friendly welcoming people and breath taking landscapes and skies, South Africa has it all!"
